Police remind community that there is no small crime

Man arrested for stealing sweets at local shop.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with shoplifting in a popular Rietfontein Road store, recently.

Police were alerted to the incident by the store’s security.

“The security guard told officers he had seen the accused placing a number of chocolate into his pants.

“When he did not stop to pay at the checkout point the guard called him aside and asked to search him,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused failed to explain where the receipt for the items was and officers were called.

“We would like to inform our community that crime does not pay, and there is no such thing as a small crime,” added Maome.

The suspect was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
