Spring Hat Flower Day for local home crafts club

Club members meet in style.

Members of the SA Institute of Homecrafts recently held their monthly meeting at the Primrose Bowling Club.

“We are a home crafts club and we meet every second Tuesday of the month, for a cup of tea and to learn various crafts, including sewing, crocheting, dècoupage, and generally just anything that women like to do,” said chairperson of the club Esra Leibold.

The club has different demonstrators every month, who come along to meetings to demonstrate some form of craft or needlework.

In September, the club had organised for a florist, from Lambton, to visit, but she was unable to make it, due to an illness.

The disappointment of the cancellation didn’t discourage the members, who carried on with the other fun activities they usually have.

Among other things, the women brought along cuttings and flowers from their gardens to sell, to raise funds for the the club.

“We have competitions, sell scarves and other activities for the women to look forward to, and such activities also raise funds for the club,” explained Leibold.

“We have three clubs, in Edenvale, Brakpan and Primrose, and more members are welcome to come along and join the club, including men.”
