DA takes a stand on behalf of Dawnview

Dawnview residents should have a steady supply of water.

The DA is demanding that the metro takes immediate and swift action to ensure residents of Dawnview have a steady supply of water.

Residents have been complaining for some months that they are either without water or, if there is supply, that there is little to no pressure in their taps.

“The matter has been reported to the water department, which insists that the problem lies with Rand Water and that it is not a metro problem.

“Rand Water has reportedly recently refurbished its water pump, which is not performing at its optimum capacity yet,” said Ward 21 councillor Tania Campbell.

“The DA says that, whatever the reason, the metro is responsible to residents to ensure a water supply and it is unacceptable that the metro appears to be doing nothing, while residents endure huge inconvenience, while still paying substantial municipal bills.

“The metro, as a paying customer of Rand Water, should be ensuring that its water supply is up to standard, as it has a responsibility to its own paying customers.”

Campbell added that the MMC, Aubrey Nxumalo, should be putting his foot down with Rand Water about the quality of the water supply, for the benefit of all the residents who, in turn, pay him very well to defend their interests.
