Man is rushed to hospital after accident

A case of reckless and negligent driving opened after accident.

Cars travelling along Pretoria Road, in Primrose, were left standing bumper-to-bumper on Friday morning, following an accident that occurred at around 6.40am.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD, the accident involved a white MAN bus, driven by a 53-year-old man who didn’t sustain any visible injuries, a red five-door Daewoo driven by a 27-year-old woman, who was unscathed, but was treated for shock, and a black Hyosung motorcycle driven by a man in his 20s, who sustained serious injuries.

He was rushed to the Bertha Gxowa Hospital for medical treatment.

“It is not clear at this stage what actually occurred before the accident, but a preliminary investigation reveals that the Daewoo, travelling on Pretoria Road from the Elandsfontein direction, turned right into Beaconsfield Avenue in front of an approaching motorcycle, which was travelling on Pretoria Road from the Germiston/Primrose direction,” Mokheseng said.

“The sedan then crashed into a stationary bus intending to join Pretoria Road from Beaconsfield Avenue.

“A case of reckless and negligent driving has been registered against the Daewoo’s driver at the Primrose Police Station, for further investigations.”
