Laerskool Die President closes off anti-bullying week

Children take a stand against bullying in their school.

“No more bullies.”

This was the chant that filled the air as students of Laerskool Die President took to the streets in their anti-bullying march, on Friday, September 5.

The march closed off the school’s week long anti-bullying campaign.

Students, from Grade R to Grade Seven, were asked to create posters and take a stand against bullying in their school.

The days programme included the planting of a “peace tree”, which will serve as a reminder to the students of the stand they have taken against bullying.

Each student was offered the opportunity to water the tree after it had been planted.

‘They also participated in the “burning” of the school’s bullies names.

In the week leading up to the march, pupils were asked to write down the names of people they felt were bullies in their class.

These names were place in a cardboard box and set alight.

The ashes were then attached to a bunch of balloons and released.

The Primrose police, community patrollers and Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk were on hand at the event to make sure everything ran smoothly and safely.
