Suspect nabbed for murder and arson

Primrose police traced and arrested a man for 2012 case.

The Primrose police, with the help of community members, arrested a suspect, aged 35, for two counts of murder and arson, in the Makause informal settlement, on August 6.

It is alleged that the suspect and his friend went to the shack of the victim, whom they accused of fathering his friend’s wife’s child, and found him [the victim] sitting with a friend.

They shot both the victim and his friend, set the shack on fire and disappeared.

The victim died on the scene and his friend was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and burns all over his body.

The victim’s friend died two weeks, later in the hospital.

“Our dedicated detectives received information, traced the suspects and managed to arrest and detain one of them at the Primrose Police Station,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.

On checking the suspect with the Micro connectivity device it was discovered the suspect is also wanted for a case of common robbery, committed in 2010, in Primrose.

“The management of Primrose SAPS thanks the community members who gave our detectives accurate information and the detectives, for responding rapidly to the information and making the arrest,” added Maome.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and the matter was postponed for plea and trial, with no bail.
