A 21-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police on Monday, July 21.
The arrest was made in Rietfontein Road, after officers patrolling the area noticed a man running along the road with a welding machine in his possession.
Officers pursued him and, after a brief chase, cornered him.
The officers searched the man and found not only the welding machine in his possession, but also a packet of blind rivets.
When he could not give the officers a clear answer as to where he had obtained the items, the man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was formally charged.
“The station commander and his management team thank the officers for being so observant,” said Sgt Styles Maome.
