Special expo looks at healthy living

Learn all about living a healthy life.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church Primrose is bringing health care awareness to the community.

The church will hold a Health and Wellness Expo on June 22, from 10am to 3.30pm, at Hoërskool Vryburger High.

The school is situated in Churchill Avenue, Primrose.

Organiser of the event, Pastor Johan Jonker, said: “In general, people are not living a healthy lifestyle these days and we want to bring healthy ideas to the community.”

Jonker said the church will present their Newstart programme, where a person is taken through eight steps to a healthy life, namely nutrition, exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, air, rest and trust in Divine Power.

The church wants to reach into the community and get other health-related businesses involved in their project.

The Health and Wellness Expo will feature something for the whole family, so bring your little ones along to learn from Ollie the Clown, who will teach them about good health principles.

They will also be able to have fun on the jumping castles and with Monkeynastics, who are one of the exhibitors on the day.

Other exhibitors include, Ackermans Pharmacy, Curves, Ozone Health Treatments, Oasis Water and Meals on Wheels.

There will also be first aid, Pilates and Cross Fit Heart information available.

People will be able to get a general impression of what their health is like, with free blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index tests available.

While the children have fun, adults can listen to short, informative talks on all aspects of good health.

There will also be lots of giveaways during the course of the day.

The church is hoping to make this an annual event.
