Primrose Police arrested a suspect for robbery

Man nabbed for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm.

Primrose Police arrested a suspect, aged 18, for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm.

This happened after a victim was allegedly walking on Rietfontein Road and was approached by two men, who pointed a sharp object at him and took his cellphone.

The victim screamed and the community tried to help him.

Soon after the attack, the victim saw a police patrol vehicle passing by, stopped it and informed the police of what had happened.

The police chased the suspects, cornered one, and arrested him; he was detained at the Primrose Police Station.

“We will hunt for the second suspect until we bring him to book,” said the communication officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.

“Management would like to thank our members for their quick response and arrest.”

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and was granted bail.

He will appear again for trial.
