Caxton Reynolds Race kicks off

The race has started. Hold thumbs for the Germiston team.

The Caxton Reynolds Race kicked off on a high note, on June 7, at Hirsch’s Boksburg.

The eager and energetic teams braved the cold weather, all hoping to score high in their first task of the race.

The Reynolds Race is based on television’s popular “Amazing Race”, and will require participating teams to complete various tasks across the East Rand, in order to win the big prize.

The prize in this year’s race is an all-expenses paid trip to Zanzibar, courtesy of the SA Reynolds Travel Centre.

A points system will be used to monitor the teams’ performances and to score them accordingly

The first team to finish a task within the given time walks away with bragging rights and top points, that will be added to their overall score card.

The three teams with the most points by the end of the seventh week will all go into the finals, that will be held in Springs, on August 2.

The first task, on June 7, was a lot of fun for all.

Meet the teams:

Jenny Basson and Esté Reynecke represent Springs.

Johan Ferreira and Sophia Viljoen represent Kempton Park and Tembisa.

Liza Smith and Petrus Lombard represent Boksburg.

Emmanuel Mgcina and Mduduzi Sihlongonyane represent Benoni.

Cheryl and Sean Whelan represent Germiston.
