Police crackdown on drunk driving

Two men arrested for driving under the influence.

Two men were arrested by the Primrose police on Tuesday, May 27, in two separate incidents of drunken driving.

This man, guarded by Lieut Jack Mokoena, was arrested for driving under the influence when officer found him stopped in the middle of a busy street.

The first, an 18-year-old, was arrested in Shamrock Road.

Officers pulled him over when they noticed his erratic driving and, when he stepped out of his vehicle, he was barely able to stand and smelled strongly of alcohol.

Officers immediately arrested him.

The second man was also arrested in Shamrock Road.

The 33-year-old was found in his car, that was stopped in the middle of the road.

When officers approached him he attempted to drive off, but was cornered.

He was taken to a local clinic for blood tests, which revealed that he was indeed drunk, and he was arrested.

The two men later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where they were both released on a warning.
