Girls learn about the police

Young girls learn about the life of a police officer.

The Germiston police, in partnership with Cell C, hosted the “Take a girl child to work” day at the station, recently.

The girls in grades 10 and 11, from Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston, were invited to visit the station, to learn about the police.

Germiston cluster commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo opened the day’s activities with a song, and welcomed the girls, who visited different components within the police station.

Women officers explained their work environment, so that the girls could get an understanding of the role women have in the police service. The girls also visited the local Criminal Record Centre, and were impressed by the fact that the police service actually has all the equipment they see on TV programmes like CSI, to solve cases.

The day ended with the girls receiving certificates and gift packs sponsored by Cell C.
