Engineers worked hard to restore power supply

Residents want to know what caused the weekend's power failure.

Residents of several areas in Germiston were left in the dark from Friday, May 23, to Sunday, May 25, and many want to know why.

Following the power failure, Mandlakazi Mpahlwa-Sigcawu the divisional head of media relations, released the following statement: “The metro wishes to inform Germiston residents that several engineers have worked hard to restore the power supply in Germiston North, parts of Primrose and Meadowdale.”

The outage occurred after a number of cables blew up at the Germiston North substation.

“The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused,” added Mpahlwa-Sigcawu.

The community can report service delivery interruptions to the metro by contacting the call centre on 0860 543 0000, or on Twitter @EMM_Call_Centre.

Updates are available on @EMM_Call_Centre and @EMMInfo.
