Water leak wastes water, causes danger

When will this leak be fixed?

There is a huge hole at the corner of Shaft and Robertson roads, in Knights, was recently reported to the GCN by Chris du Plooy, a business owner in the area.

Du Plooy told us that the leak had been there for more than a week and thousands of litres of water had been wasted.

The water had flooded into a stand recently acquired by du Plooy, and a number of cars and trucks had fallen into the hole which is about a metre deep, as there were no signs warning people about the problem.

The GCN contacted the metro and the metro’s department of communications and brand management said, “The water leak is from a Rand Water bulk line.

“Arrangements were made to repair the pipe on May 14 but this was postponed due the excavator being broken as told to us by Rand Water officials.

“The leak will be fixed as soon an excavator is available.”
