Metro to present its budget

Metro ready to deliver its budget, to complement the promises made.

The metro voiced its plans and promises during the State of the City address, in March.

Now it is ready to deliver its budget, to complement the promises made.

Member of the Mayoral Committee on Finance, Clr Moses Makwakwa, will deliver the multibillion Rand 2014/15 budget on Thursday, May 29.

The budget speech follows thorough consultative meetings with the communities of the metro, in which residents were given an opportunity to influence the budget allocations in terms of priorities important to them.

The budget speech comes shortly after the national and provincial elections, whose conclusion drew the spotlight to local authorities’ performances ahead of the local government elections in 2016.

“In this regard, the metro is set to deliver a people-centred budget that will oil the city’s service delivery machinery, ensuring that all hands are on deck to improve local government’s performance,” said Mandlakazi Mpahlwa-Sigcawu, divisional head of media relations.
