Company’s security guards nabbed for attempted theft

Would-be thieves arrested.

After receiving a complaint, members of the Elsburg SAPS went to a company in Moore Street, Wadeville, in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

When they arrived, they found a truck parked inside the premises, with three forklifts already loaded on the back of it.

The police members searched the premises, but found no suspects.

After interrogating the security guards and viewing video footage, the attempted theft of the forklifts was linked to them.

The officers arrested two men on the scene and, after identifying a third suspect on the video footage, they followed the leads to the third man, and arrested him.

This man informed the police that the head of the security guards was the mastermind behind the attempted theft.

He then led them to the fourth suspect’s home, where he was arrested by members of the Elsburg SAPS Detective Services.

The suspects, aged 28, 32, 25, 35, were detained at the Elsburg Police Station and were due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court, last Monday.

“Brig Phumla Mdlankomo, the cluster commander of Germiston, congratulated Capt Phineas Mokou and the members of his shift responsible for the good police work,” said WO André de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS.
