Man arrested for common assault

Twenty-six year old man arrested for assault.

Andre de Jager, the spokesperson for the Germiston SAPS, spoke to the GCN following reports of a kidnapping that had taken place at Afrikaanse Hoerskool Germiston.

“I spoke to the principal of the school, Retha du Toit, and she briefly informed me of what transpired that day, at the school,” he said.

“Officers were on patrol in Sinclaire Street, where they arrested a 26-year-old man on charges of common assault.

“This was after he had slapped the victim with an open hand.”

The accused was detained at the Germiston Police Station and appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 15.

The case was postponed to May 22.

“No kidnapping case was opened with the Germiston SAPS, as there was no evidence pointing to a kidnapping incident,” added de Jager.
