Children need winter woolies

Help youngsters keep warm this winter.

Winter has arrived and this is evident in the cold temperatures we are currently experiencing.

For some people, winter means new winter woollies, warm fleece blankets and keeping cosy next to the fire, with a cup of hot chocolate.

For the 88 children currently in residential care at Epworth Children’s Village the reality is somewhat different.

Epworth Children’s Village, in Lambton, is a residential care facility for children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected.

Epworth relies on the generous support of the community to ensure that these children are provided with the care and support they deserve.

The home is appealing to the community (individuals and businesses) to help the children stay warm this winter.

They are in need of the following:

  • Winter pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns.
  • Shoes, jerseys and tracksuits.
  •  Blankets.
  •  Other provisions, such as washing powder and toiletries.
  •  Soups, tinned food and any dry goods.

Most of the children have gone through traumatic experiences, resulting in low self-esteem, and need an emotional boost.

Staff at the home are calling on the community to partner with them to help provide adequately for them.

The children at Epworth Children’s Village range in age from four to 18 years.

All donations will be greatly appreciated.
