Robber not so lucky

Robber sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Lucky Ndlovu, a Zimbabwean national, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.

The 42-year-old man was arrested after a robbery on November 28, 2011.

The owner of a guest lodge in Dinwiddie and one of his employees arrived at his business at about 9.30am on the abovementioned date.

They were there to relieve another employee.

When they arrived they found two employees inside, with two unknown men.

The man’s employee went to the employees who were inside, and the two unknown men pointed a firearm at him and searched him.

They took R2 500 in cash that was in his pocket.

The men also instructed him to take the sim cards out of five cellphones the employees had in their possession.

The men also took airtime vouchers valued at R850, before fleeing.

The owner chased after the men and, while he was pursuing them, he saw the police and flagged them down.

The Germiston SAPS managed to catch one of the robbers and also recovered a 9mm pistol.

The man was arrested.

Det-WO Senzo Simelane, from the Germiston SAPS, was assigned to the case and he pursued the investigation.

His hard work finally paid off when Ndlovu was brought to book and sentenced to 28 years in prison.

He was found guilty of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and business robbery.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
