Deceased patients abandoned

Pauper burial.

The Natalspruit Hospital appeals to the public to collect the bodies of relatives who have died while receiving care at the institution.

“It pains the hospital to bury the deceased as paupers, but we are left with no choice but to bury them as such, due to their family members and relatives abandoning them in their last hour,” said the Hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Vuyo Sabani.

“Some of these patients died as far back as January, but still, they have not been collected for dignified burial four months down the line,” said the hospital’s public relations officer, Vuyo Sabani.

“The hospital has also picked up that some community members, when they notice that their relatives are about to die, dump them at the institution and vanish without a trace.

“When we go to the addresses they had given to us when we admitted them, we find that these were wrong addresses,” added Sabani.

To make arrangements to collect your loved ones before a pauper’s burial is arranged, call the hospital mortuary on 011 053 2300, and ask for Masesi Mahlangu.
