Guest speaker motivates community

Natalie du Toit speaks at CPF meeting.

The Lambton Klip CPF hosted their monthly community meeting, on March 13, at Afrikaanse Hoerskool/High School Germiston.

The guest speaker for the evening was the acclaimed swimmer and gold medallist Natalie du Toit.

Du Toit shared her trials, tribulations, dreams and goals throughout her illustrious career.

“While she is best known for the gold medals she won at the 2004 Paralympic Games and the Commonwealth Games, du Toit serves as an inspiration to each of us in our daily lives,” said chairwoman of the Lambton Klip CPF, Renee Germeshuisen.

Her resounding message to the community was: “Everything is possible if you can just believe.”

Du Toit’s story is a personal journey of how she faced the good with the bad; of overcoming adversity and the life lessons she learned along the way.

No matter how many times life knocks you down, what really matters, is how many times you get up.

She serves on the national board, promoting drug- free sport.

Du Toit achieved her success through hard work and perseverance, which serves as a great inspiration to the youth of South Africa.

Her message is clear: “One does not have to use any drugs or substances to enhance your performance in sport.

“Hard work is the only way to success.”

The Lambton Klip CPF thanked the headmistress of Afrikaanse Hoerskool/High School Germiston, Retha du Toit, for the use of the venue and the community who turned out in their numbers.

The meeting was attended by approximately 260 community members.

“Our next community meeting will be held on April 10, 2014, at the same venue,” said Germeshuisen.

“Our guest speaker for the meeting will be announced closer to the date.”
