Suspect arrested for common assault

Primrose Police arrested a female suspect for common assault.

Primrose police arrested a suspect, aged 34, for common assault and child abuse, in the Marathon informal settlement.

This happened after the victim, the suspect’s daughter, visited the police station to lay a charge against her biological mother.

The victim and the suspect were referred to social development but, on the same day, when they arrived home, the suspect, who is pregnant, fought with her boyfriend, who is the victim’s stepfather.

The victim asked the stepfather if she could sleep over at her friend’s house as she couldn’t stand their fighting and she needed to study for exams, and the stepfather agreed.

However, the following morning, when she returned home, her mother fought with her and chased her away from the house, calling her names.

The mother also allegedly bit the victim on her left and right arms.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Primrose SAPS, pending her appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
