Protection order violated

Man held in contempt of court for violating protection order.

Officers of the Primrose police arrested a 28-year-old man for contempt of court, recently, after he violated the conditions of a protection order that had been instituted against him.

Officers were alerted to the violation when a distraught woman called the Primrose Police Station to report that the man, against whom she had obtained a protection order, had come to see her, had verbally abused her and even threatened to kill her.

Officers raced to the scene, where they found the man and arrested him.

Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police, appealed to the community not to ignore court orders against them.

“If an order is issued it needs to be obeyed, and if the conditions of the order are violated the offender will be arrested,” he said.

At his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court the man’s case was postponed for trial.
