Celebrating 100 years of happy birthdays.

Anna Maria Mouton, who hails from Tedstoneville, celebrated her 100th birthday last Saturday, February 8.

A beaming Anna Maria Mouton celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, February 8.

She was born in 1914 in Johannesburg.

It was love at first sight when Anna met her husband, Andries Mouton (who sadly died July 1962), at the local zoo.

The couple was married in Jagersfontein, in 1931, and was blessed with four beautiful children.

Their three sons Koos, Piet and André, and daughter, Judy, went on to give Anna 12 grandchildren to spoil.

Her grandchildren, in turn, gave her 22 great-grandchildren.

And 2014 sees Anna expecting her second great-great-grandchild.

Anna who has been a housewife for most of her life but did dabble in dressmaking for a short time.

Friends describe her as a wonderful and loving woman, who is always full of jokes.

“Anna never has a bad thing to say about anyone; she always has something nice to say, to brighten your situation and make you feel special,” said Audrey du Toit a friend of the Mouton family.

Anna received a special treat for her birthday when Marie van Niekerk and Erna Kruger, hairstylists at Marie’s Hairdresser in Cruywagen Park, did her hair for her special day.

Friends and family all agree they are thankful to have had Anna with them for this long and hope she will be around for years to come.
