Armed robbers arrested

Armed robbery suspects nabbed just six hours after committing a crime.

Five people, in a red Toyota Corolla, robbed a Pakistani businessman at 8.30am, recently, in Graceland.

They got away with R4 000 in cash and several items, including cartons of cigarettes.

Three of the suspects took off on foot towards the Ramaphosa informal settlement, while the two in the vehicle raced towards Elsburg.

The EMPD’s Katlehong, Vosloorus and Germiston precinct stations were told to be on the lookout for the vehicle and these officers were backed-up by the EMPD Intervention Unit.

A friend of the businessman, who happened to stop his vehicle outside the business while the robbery was in progress, was shot at by the robbers.

The red Toyota Corolla was tracked to Giyani Street, in Vosloorus, by EMPD officers at about 2pm.

There were four occupants and the items stolen from the business were found strewn on the floor.

The firearm used, as well as the cash taken during the robbery, are still to be recovered.

The four people, aged between 24 and 31, were booked at the Elsburg Police Station on charges of armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of suspected stolen goods.
