Long-time resident dies

Sad farewell to Daan van Coller.

Germiston resident Daan van Coller passed away on November 24, at the age of 72, after a short battle with cancer. Daan grew up and spent his entire life in Germiston.

He was married for 48 years to Susan, and the couple had three children, Boshof, Arthur and Rene.

He dedicated his time to serving the community and helping people where possible.

Daan was a Germiston town councillor from 1983 to 1988 and served a term as deputy mayor.

He retired in 1992, after working for more than 30 years for Trust Bank and later ABSA.

He was part of the Omgeeforum, an organisation which performed charity work in the community.

Daan loved entertaining and making potjiekos or braaivleis for people.

He is survived by his wife, three children and two grandchildren.

His funeral took place on Thursday.
