Truck overturns on Olivier Street
Truck accident in Elsburg leaves driver seriously injured.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services responded to a truck accident on Olivier Street, Elsburg, last Tuesday.
“It is not known exactly what happened, but, according to information received from bystanders on the scene, it is alleged that a truck with a trailer skipped a red traffic light on the corner of Voortrekker and Olivier streets.
“The truck, which was travelling towards Wadeville, then approached a sharp left bend and could not slow down enough to make the bend, and overturned,” said Roggers Mamaila, acting executive manager of Proactive Service, Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services.
Emergency services confirmed that there were two people in the truck, one being the driver.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.
He suffered serious injuries.
The passenger was not trapped in the wreckage and was treated for serious but stable injuries.
Both patients were transported to Natalspruit Hospital for medical treatment.
