Power out in Tedstoneville again

Residents have been left without power again.

Residents of Tedstoneville Extension One were again left without power.

They experienced a power outage in the early hours of Friday morning.

Carol Sternberg, a resident in Woodpecker Street, told the GCN that the power went off at about 1am and, although she had called the metro three times, she had received no information about what the problem was and when the power was likely to be restored.

Anita van Zyl, another resident in the area, also contacted the GCN about the problem on Friday.

The GCN asked the metro for comment on the situation in Tedstoneville, enquired why the suburb was continually having power failures and when this was going to be sorted out.

However, the comment received did not answer these questions.

Sam Modiba, spokesman for the metro said: “There is a suspected cable fault feeding the mini-substation.

“Technicians are still locating the fault.

“Cables feeding Tedstoneville run through Germiston Extensions Eight and Nine, wherein there is theft occasionally.”

The power was restored at 4pm on Friday.
