Attempted motorcycle theft

Two men nabbed for attempted motorcycle theft.

The Primrose police, with the help of car guards, managed to arrest two suspects, aged 40 and 46, for attempted motorcycle theft and possession of car-breaking implements, in Rietfontein Road, recently.

The guards saw a vehicle drop off a man, who was in possession of an implement, near a motorcycle parked on the side of the road.

They monitored the man as he tried to break the ignition of the motorcycle.

One of the guards phoned the SAPS, while the other guards approached the man.

When the suspect realised that the guards were headed for him he started running; the guards gave chase, cornered him and managed to arrest him.

The police followed the drop-off vehicle and the driver was also caught and arrested.

The management of the Primrose SAPS thanks the car guards involved and members of the community who helped in this operation.

“Motor vehicle theft is rife these days and the community’s involvement in this arrest shows that the community is not willing to tolerate theft,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
