Man arrested for suspected stolen property

Primrose police arrest man for stolen property.

Members of the Primrose SAPS recently arrested an 18-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen property and the possession of live ammunition.

The arrested was made when officers, while on patrol, noticed three young men loitering in Graham Road.

The officers decided to follow them and then stopped them and requested to search them.

“The men refused to be searched and became arrogant, even calling the officers names,” said Const Style Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.

The officers detained the three men and called for back-up.

Once the additional officers arrived, the police were able to search the three men.

During the search, officers found a woman’s gold watch and live ammunition on one of the men.

The suspect was unable to provide a reason why he had these items and officers arrested him.

Maome said: “Upon profiling the suspect, he appeared to have committed housebreakings and theft several times.

“As we are experiencing a lot of housebreakings in the area, our officers suspected that he might have been in Graham Road with that intention.”

The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.

The case has since been remanded for a bail application.
