Power woes for Tedstoneville

The suburb of Tedstoneville has been experiencing a lot of power outages.

Residents in Tedstoneville are sick and tired of power failures.

The GCN was contacted by residents who told us that, over the past two weeks, there had been power outages almost on a nightly basis.

Anita van Zyl said she had tried calling the metro’s call taking centre on numerous occasions, but had held on for 45 minutes or longer, just to be cut off eventually.

“You pay a fortune toward airtime and when you eventually get through they won’t give you a reference number and the staff are unhelpful,” she said.

“They just say they are working on the problem.”

Another resident told the GCN that, last Saturday evening, the power went off three times and then again on Sunday, for over an hour.

“This is totally unacceptable and must stop,” she said.

The GCN contacted the metro for comment regarding the power problems in Tedstoneville and spokesperson Sam Modiba said: “The power failures were caused by a faulty transformer.

“The metro’s energy department provides its services call centre with information which they communicate via Twitter, recorded messages on the call centre’s voicemail and the call centre operators.

“The transformer was replaced last Monday, thus the matter has been resolved.”
