A tavern murder case

Man dies after being stabbed twice.

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police, in the Marathon informal settlement, in Primrose, recently, in connection with a murder.

“Our police officers were patrolling the area when a group of people at a tavern called them,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The police found a man who had been stabbed and had difficulty breathing, lying on the floor.

“The police called an ambulance, but the man was declared dead when the paramedics arrived.”

Community members in the area helped the police to find the man believed to be responsible for the murder.

Maome said the community members managed to find the man before the police did, and assaulted him.

“The police would like to thank the community members for helping us to catch the suspect, but we do not condone mob justice, we strongly discourage that,” added Maome.

“We are concerned about those who take the law into their own hands.”

The man was rescued by the police and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was charged and detained.

Maome informed the GCN that the man was found in possession of a dangerous, sharp weapon which is believed to have been used to stab the deceased twice in the upper body.

The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court, soon.
