Rotary donates R10 000

The Germiston Rotary Club donated R10 000 to the Sports Trust.

The Germiston Rotary Club donated R10 000 to The Sports Trust, in Germiston, recently.

The Sports Trust is a non-profit/public benefit organisation.

“It provides access and creates opportunities for all South Africans to participate in sport through the provision of kit, equipment and facilities,” said Charlie Kane, from the Germiston Rotary Club.

“They have aligned themselves with the sports minister’s mandate to increase participation in school sports, thereby enhancing their educational achievements, as a healthy body builds a healthy mind.”

The R10 000 cheque came from the proceeds of the club’s recent Carnival City MacSteel Cycle Challenge initiative.

The Sports Trust was established in 1995, as a joint venture between the private and the public sectors and has, to date, spent R62-m on over 261 projects in South Africa, with a strong emphasis on upgrading sports facilities and providing equipment.
