Keeping the city safe on horseback The EMPD Equestrian Unit performs vital duties to help keep communities safe. Const Nkosinathi Zwane on Caty also try their hand at the jumping exercise. EMPD Equestrian Unit officers have some fun. They are, back: Const Matete Tshabalala, Const Maryna Venter and Const Prichard Wizer. Front: Const Goodness Bhengu and Const Boitumelo Moagi. The bond between horse and rider needs to be strong in order to be effective while doing their jobs. Const Goodness Bhengu and her horse, Star City, have a wonderful, loving relationship and they trust each other implicitly. Const Nkosinathi Zwane on Caty also try their hand at the jumping exercise. Const Mike Zungu on Trogan takes part in a jumping exercise. EMPD Equestrian Unit members Const Mike Zungu on Trogan, Const Nkosinathi Zwane on Caty, Const Jaun-Pierre Forster on Rocky, Const Prichard Wizer on Sprinkles, Const Goodness Bhengu on Star City and Const Velaphi Tshambane on Islay get ready to do some training at the unit’s base in Petit in Benoni. Members of the EMPD Equestrian Unit are ready to serve the community of Ekurhuleni. Const Velaphi Tshambane on Islay practise their backing up and turning technique should they have to go into enclosed spaces. Const Goodness Bhengu on Star City take their turn at the backing up and turning exercise. The EMPD Equestrian Unit is led by Senior Supt Ronald Botha (right). He spends some time with Const Nkosinathi Zwane and Caty. Const Prichard Wizer has been with the EMPD Equestrian Unit since 2005 and loves it. Have a story?
