Is load shedding back?

The power system will reportedly be tight till Friday - says Eskom.

The power system is stable and no load shedding is currently taking place.

This comes after load shedding, stage one, was implemented yesterday (Monday).

“The risk of load shedding remains as we operate a very constrained and vulnerable power system,” said the company in a statement this morning.

The power system will reportedly be tight, particularly over the weekday evening peak periods until Friday this week.

“We will continue to monitor the situation, and should it be necessary to implement load shedding, we will communicate this accordingly,” Eskom said.

As the weather begins to warm up, the use of electricity becomes higher in the day, predominantly due to the increased usage of air-conditioners, geysers and pool pumps.

“We call on all electricity users to continue using electricity sparingly in order to reduce the risk of load shedding,” the company urged.

Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
