Parents determined to raise money for son’s cochlear implant

Get involved and help Jordan hear.

Nicoleen and Dwyne van der Merwe continue their efforts to raise the more than R500 000 they need for their son, Jordan’s cochlear implant.

The couple recently spoke to a GCN journalist at their Tedstoneville home, on their son’s first birthday, August 15, and explained how important it is to get the operation done.

To raise the funds the family will be hosting a series of competitions and fund-raisers, these include:

  • A fishing competition, which will be held on October 3 and 4 at the private section of Boschkop Oord, at the Vaal Dam.

A nominal amount will be charged for each entry; with the closing date for entries for the competition being September 30.

For more details contact Dwyne on 079 862 3210.

  • A golf day, which will be held at the Germiston Golf Club on November 10.

Entries for the event close on October 10, for more information call Nicoleen on 072 176 8759 or 011 436-0354 or Tanya Smit on 060 975 4514 or email tanya.smit@investecmail.com.

  •  A training show, held at Ostler’s Inn Stables and Equestrian Centre, 200 Hazel Road, Benoni Agricultural Holdings on October 11.
