Man found with suspected stolen property

Tip-off leads to arrest.

After receiving a tip-off from a community patroller, officers from the Primrose Police Station recently rushed to the corner of Beaconsfield Avenue and Boxwood Road.

“The community patroller told officers he had seen a man acting suspiciously and carrying a black bag,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

When officers arrived, they found the 42-year-old man described by the community patroller and asked to search him and the bag he was carrying.

During the search they found a pair of expensive tekkies and a car radio, for which he could not produce proof of purchase.

He was arrested and charged with the possession of suspected stolen property.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
