Help to make it a happy ending for Stompie

Stompie is ready to take on the world again and is looking for a forever home.

He was alone on the streets and injured, but life is looking up for Stompie.

Thanks to the care of local veterinarians and staff at the Germiston SPCA, the cross-Staffordshire terrier is now healthy and looking forward to finding his forever home.

Stompie found his way to the SPCA after he entered an Elsburg homeowner’s garden and a fight broke out between him and the dogs on the property.

“The homeowner called us for help, as Stompie was terribly injured and needed to see a vet straight away,” said Michelle Falgate, chairman of the Germiston SPCA.

“His injuries were severe, with a gaping wound on his neck, but Stompie refused to give up.

“After numerous trips to the vet and a daily routine of tablets and wound cleaning, he slowly started healing and his beautiful personality emerged.

“With tender love and care, time and patience, and dedication from our staff, his awful physical wounds have healed and his playful, fun and loving personality has come out.”

Stompie’s sheer determination to survive and willingness to trust again has amazed all who have had the pleasure of meeting him.

If you are interested in adopting him, visit the SPCA’s kennels in Junction Road, Driehoek, to meet him in person.

He’s currently in Kennel 16.

The public can assist more animals like Stompie.

The society frequently receives calls from concerned members of the public for help with injured or sick stray animals that need immediate medical treatment.

“Our teams are on call 24/7 to help in these emergencies, and we will never turn any animal away,” said Falgate.

“The expenses incurred for veterinary treatment to help these animals run into monthly amounts exceeding R30 000.

“We are completely dependent on donations from the public and, to allow us to continue to offer this service, and give animals such as Stompie a second chance, we need the community’s help.

“Please help us help them.

“No gift is too small, and every cent makes a difference.”
