Ekurhuleni Aerobics Marathon in Katlehong

Community members keep fit.

The Ekurhuleni Aerobics Marathon took Katlehong by storm on the morning of May 30.

Sweat dripping, hearts throbbing, bodies twisting and turning was the order of the day at the Katlehong Stadium.

Over 100 fitness fanatics from Katlehong came out for a three-hour continuous aerobics session, all in the name of fitness.

“A first of its kind hosted by the metro, the aerobics marathon kicked off on a high note earlier this year in the eastern parts of the city, and now the southern region is sharing in the same experience,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.

“Communities in the north must gear themselves for this exhilarating experience, as their turn is coming soon.

“We call upon all citizens residing within the metro to join in the fun of keeping fit and maintaining healthy lifestyles with the free and professional aerobics marathon sessions offered every Saturday morning, in their nearby community parks.”

The professional instructors brought their A-game and their high impact moves to stretch the participants.

Activities of the day began with warming up and stretching, followed by kata-box and zumba, and concluded with an intense boot-camp session.

“The aerobics marathon is not only meant for physical fitness but is also a mechanism to enhance social cohesion in our communities,” said Gadebe.
