Man threatened with firearm

Man found with unlicensed firearm.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 39-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The suspect, from the Makause informal settlement, in Primrose, was arrested when patrolling officers were stopped by a man who claimed he had just been threatened.

“He explained that the man who had threatened him, had pointed a silver firearm at him,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to trace the man.

While searching the suspect, they discovered the silver firearm strapped to his waist.

When asked to produce a license he was unable to.

He later told police he had found the firearm on the street.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where the case was postponed for trial.
