Local family overpowered and tied up during robbery

Family, including a four-year-old child, tied up in robbery ordeal.

A Parkhill Gardens family was tied up in their home and the house was ransacked, last Monday evening.

The incident took place in Cachet Road at about 5.30pm.

“It is alleged that a suspect gained entry to the house and surprised the homeowner while he was in the bath,” said WO André de Jager, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS.

“At gun-point, he ordered the owner into the bedroom where the homeowner’s wife and four-year-old daughter were sitting.

“He proceeded to tie the family up and then ransacked the house.”

The robber wore pantyhose over his face so a description of him could not be given.

He made off with computers, televisions, a DVD player, cellphones, a PlayStation and other household goods which he loaded into the family’s bakkie before driving away.

The homeowner managed to alert a neighbour to his family’s predicament at about 9.30pm and they were freed.

No one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

The Germiston SAPS are investigating a case of house robbery and no arrests have been made yet.
