Petrol price to increase from April 1

Motorists set to pay R 1.62 more per litre from Wednesday.

After weeks of speculation the department of energy has confirmed that the price of petrol will increase by R1.62 per litre from Wednesday.

The cost of 95 ULP and LRP will  increase by R1,62, 93 ULP and LRP will increase by R1,56 per litre, with diseal set to increase by R1.24 per litre.

Illuminating paraffin will cost 26 cents more per litre and liquefied petroleum gas, will in the meantime increase by 85 cents per kilogram.

The department of energy announced the increase on Friday and explained the the reasons for the increase include the combined 80,5 cents for the Fuel and Road Accident Fund levies on petrol and diesel as announced in the February budget and the weaker rand.
