Officers face jail time

Officers found guilty of kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.

Earlier today (Saturday) the South African Police Service (SAPS) released a statement on their Twitter page (@SAPoliceService) that two officers had been sentenced to ten years in prison.

The two officers, hailing from the Germiston and Elsburg police station respectively, were sentenced to five years in prison on charges of kidnapping and five years on the charges of defeating the ends of justice.

It has not been confirmed weather the sentences will be served simultaneously on consecutively.

The GCN has made attemptes to contact both the Germiston and Elsburg police for comment by at the time of publication had not receieved any comment.
