Help children to realise their overseas dreams

Help siblings make their dreams come true.

The Botes siblings from Parkhill Gardens, Kyle (13), Tammi (16) and Aimee (12), have been hard at work raising funds to make their dream of going overseas a reality.

The Germiston City News told their story last year (GCN, November 21, 2014).

Tammi and Kyle are raising money to attend the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Yamaguchi, Japan, and Aimee is raising funds to attend the Arts (Applause Rising Talent Showcase) in Orlando, Florida.

In order to get enough funds, the family has teamed up with five other families who have children who have been chosen to attend Arts.

They have two major fund-raisers planned; the first is a Solo Improv Dance-Off Competition which takes place on Saturday, February 28, at the First Germiston Scout Hall, in Vimy Ridge Road, Delville.

The event kicks off at 10am and runs until 6pm.

People aged between four and 21 are welcome to come along and compete in three categories, namely:

  • Ballet, modern, contemporary and lyrical.
  • Tap, Spanish, jazz and Irish.
  • Hip-Hop, freestyle and kwaito.

An entry fee will be charged.

Medals will be awarded for the first, second and third placed winners per category and age group, and a cash prize will be awarded to the studio which brings the most students.

The second event is a Golf Day, at the ERPM Golf Club, on March 27.

This will take the form of a Betterball competition and tee-off times are available from 11am.

ERPM Golf Club is situated on Pretoria Road, Boksburg.

Come along and play, sponsor a hole or display your banners and help to make the children’s dreams come true.
