School’s pass rate climbs steadily

Sizwe Secondary School had a pleasant surprise with matric results.

Sizwe Secondary School in Elandsfontein Rail, Germiston, was thrilled to discover they had achieved a 95 per cent pass rate in the 2014 National Senior Certificate examinations.

The school had a total of 112 matric pupils sit for the final examinations.

Between them, the pupils achieved 11 distinctions, with 31 per cent passing with a degree pass and 46 per cent with a diploma pass.

The school’s top student was Happy Mathibe with a modest two distinctions.

Deputy Principal Annet Wasserman spoke to the GCN about the results.

“We couldn’t be happier with this year’s results,” she said.

“Our pass rate has climbed steadily from 2012 when it was 53 per cent, and 2013 when it climbed to 84 per cent.

“We look forward to the new year.”
