Man arrested for October murder

Assault turns to murder, four men on the run.

A 27-year-old man was recently arrested at Marathon informal settlement by the Primrose police.

The man is alleged to be one of four suspects reported to have assaulted and killed a 31-year-old in October 2014.

When the men realised that they had killed the victim, they went into a hiding, triggering a man hunt by the Primrose police.

“Our officers received a tip-off from an informer that one of the suspects had been seen in the Marathon informal settlement,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications office of the Primrose police.

“They travelled to the address given by the informant.

“Officers reported that when the suspect saw the police vehicle he started running.”

Officers chased after the man, on foot, and were able to corner and arrest him.

Acting station commander Luiet/Col Frans Lepadima thanked the members of community who came forward with the information that lead to the man’s arrest.

“If the community continues to work with us we will be able to reduce crime in our area,” said Lepadima.

The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.

The hunt for the remaining three suspects continues.
