A 31-year-old Makause informal settlement resident was recently arrested by the Primrose police on charges of rape.
The arrest was made after the victim visited the Primrose Police Station to lay a charge.
The woman alleged that she was with friends at the Makause informal settlement, when the group needed transport to Germiston, at around 2am, and she offered to call her ex-boyfriend.
He agreed to provide transport and, after dropping all the woman’s friends at their shacks, he started to touch the victim and demanded to know why she no longer loved him.
“She claimed that the accused then undressed her and forced himself on her without a condom,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to trace the man and he was arrested.
He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
