Primary schools give it their all at cricket festival

St Catherine's comes out on top of cricket festival.

St Catherine’s Primary School recently hosted a Primary Schools Cricket Festival.

The event was held at the school, with matches getting underway at 8am and continuing into the afternoon.

The schools invited to take part in the event included Mulberton Primary, Sunnyridge Primary, Alberton Primary and Freeway Park Primary.

The final match of the day saw the host team taking on Sunnyridge Primary School.

St Catherine’s came out triumphant, winning the match by four wickets.

A small prize-giving was held after the final, which saw:

  •  Cameron Brown from St Catherine’s Primary School being named the day’s best batsmen,
  •  St Catherine’s Takudzwa Manigo named the day’s best bowler,
  •  Anthony Rose from Sunnyridge Primary School winning an award as the day’s best player,
  •  Owen Mupfumisi also from Sunnyridge Primary School named best catcher of the festival.
