Metro calls for more ratepayers to pay online

Use the metro's online payment platform.

In the midst of the ongoing SA Post Office industrial action, the metro encourages its ratepayers to utilise the convenient e-Siyakhokha online payment service.

A simple click on www.e-siyakhokha.co.za opens up a world of convenience for residents and business owners alike.

E-Siyakhokha guarantees peace of mind to many residents by ensuring they have access to their accounts and are able to pay their rates timeously, avoiding the inconvenience of being disconnected for non-payment.

Member of Mayoral Committee for Finance Clr Moses Makwakwa has assured residents that the e-Siyakhokha platform brings to an end an era of erroneous cut-offs.

“The service provides confirmation of payments and matches the payment to the statement, thus ensuring that payments are correctly reflected against accounts.

“Erroneous cut-offs due to incorrect referencing or delays in receiving payment are, therefore, almost completely eliminated,” he said.

The platform will also reduce the queues in rates offices, as it allows ratepayers to obtain a history of all their statements and payments at the click of a button, lodge queries and disputes, and print or email statements for proof of address.

With the festive holiday season fast approaching, the platform will come in very handy, as it enables residents to pre-date payments.

“This means you can set the system to pay your account on a set date, with a set amount, if you are away on holiday,” said chief financial officer Ramasela Gandi .

“The system immediately gives you notification of payment and also keeps records of your accounts and payments from the time you register to use this method.”

The e-Siyakhokha Service website is accessible 24 hours a day.

When a user accesses the e-Siyakhokha Service website, an encrypted and completely secure connection is made between their browser and the e-Siyakhokha servers, ensuring a safe and secure experience.
