The Primrose police recently arrested a 27-year-old man in the Delport informal settlement.
The man was charged with robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, after the victim laid a formal charge with the Primrose police.
She explained that she was on her way to work when she was approached by three men, carrying sticks.
She tried to avoid them, but they began to follow her.
“She started running, but they caught her, assaulted her with the sticks and grabbed her handbag, and ran away,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
The handbag contained the victim’s cellphone.
During the assault, the complainant recognised one of the three suspects and directed police to his last known place of residence.
Officers travelled to the address given, where they found the accused and arrested him.
He will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
